Electreon to deploy public wi-fi EV charging highway in Germany
Electreon, a developer of wi-fi and in-road wi-fi EV charging know-how, will deploy its know-how in a public wi-fi highway challenge in Germany, which can energy a public electrical bus.
In collaboration with EnBW, a supplier of EV charging infrastructure, Electreon might be deploying 1 km of Electrical Highway System (ERS) alongside a stretch of highway within the metropolis of Balingen, along with two static charging stations.
This challenge follows a profitable pilot of Electreon’s know-how within the metropolis of Karlsruhe, the place an electrified highway was put in on the EnBW coaching heart, powering a neighborhood public bus at peak hours.

Electreon will obtain as much as €3.2 million in public funding for the challenge.
“The purpose of this challenge is to open up wi-fi charging to the general public in Germany and develop a software that may help public transportation planners in selecting the place to put in the inductive infrastructure for a selected city or area,” stated Dr. Andreas Wendt, CEO of Electreon Germany. “We’ve already proven in our joint Karlsruhe challenge with EnBW how efficient, secure and straightforward to deploy wi-fi dynamic charging is.”
